Grief eggs

7 min easy
Grief eggs — mood boosting recipe for comfort

Soft scrambled eggs with herbs. Takes 6 minutes. Feels like someone cooked for you. This is the recipe for when you have not eaten properly in two days.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh chives or parsley
  • Good bread, toasted
  • Optional: soft cheese like goat or feta

Steps

  1. 1Crack eggs into a cold pan. Add butter. Do not whisk yet.
  2. 2Turn heat to low. Very low.
  3. 3Begin stirring slowly with a spatula as the pan warms.
  4. 4Keep stirring, pulling the eggs from the edges to the center.
  5. 5Remove from heat when still slightly underdone. Residual heat finishes them.
  6. 6Season well. Add herbs. Eat on toast.
  7. 7Sit down while you eat. Not standing over the sink.

Why this helps your mood

Eggs are one of the most complete protein sources available, and protein is what the brain uses to manufacture serotonin and dopamine. When you are grieving, you often stop eating, which makes the neurochemical depletion worse. This recipe exists to make eating feel like an act of care rather than a chore.

Healing happens in small moments. Even in the kitchen.
